Overview The Rhode Island Energy Natural Gas Trader – Physical Gas position is hybrid role responsible for the daily, monthly, and seasonal physical purchases of natural gas supplies to reliably serve the company’s retail customers in accordance with company procedures. In addition, in conjunction with other gas supply team members, the Natural Gas Trader – Physical Gas will identify and execute transactions to optimize the company’s gas supply resource portfolio in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. \#RIE Responsibilities + Plays a key role in a newly-formed organization to develop gas procurement procedures and systems. + In conjunction with the Supervisor Physical Trading and Scheduling – develop daily, monthly, and seasonal plans for gas purchasing and supply portfolio optimization. + Solicits bids for, and negotiates, the purchase and sale of gas commodity at various locations. + Executes purchase plans to refill the company’s gas storage assets. + Identifies and executes physical trades to optimize the gas supply portfolio. + Supports the Supervisor Physical Trading and Scheduling - with the implementation of commercial and regulatory activity associated with the Company’s Natural Gas Portfolio Management Plan (NGPMP). + Ensures that natural gas commodity purchases and sales transactions comply with all applicable company and departmental governance and risk management policies. + Ensures all trading activity (e.g., purchases and sales) are fully captured, documented, and summarized in the company’s gas management system for accounting and billing purposes. + Monitors reports, electronic bulletin boards, and supports the schedulers with making contacts at pipeline companies to track key volume activity accounts (imbalance, storage levels, etc.) and takes corrective action, as necessary. + Maintains business relationships with various counterparties to identify opportunities for the company. Remote Work The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
